EAST PEORIA -- East Peoria's nearly 30 year holiday tradition is happening a little earlier this year.
The Festival of Lights Parade has been moved up to this Saturday.
Parade Coordinator John Broshears said the floats have been refreshed and some have been remodeled to give the public a more animated experience.
Usually the parade falls after Thanksgiving, but the city decided changing the date will give more visitors the opportunity to see the floats in the park.
Broshears said, "It's to get the floats up in the park sooner so when people come home for Thanksgiving it allows them to go up into the park and be able to see everything all the two dimensional displays plus the three dimensional displays while they're home for the holidays."
The parade starts at 5:45 on Saturday evening. It will go for three miles along Washington Street.
