Hello!

Hello everybody!

One of the mods here, who's a friend of mine in real life (I won't use her real name, but am blanking on her username on this site) referred me here months ago, and I'm just now trying this place out. I've been roleplaying in one form or another continuously since I can remember interacting with people, really. Only, at a certain age, it was just called pretend. However, at some point, a couple of my friends and I interacted more online than in person, which got me into IM chat roleplaying, and I eventually found people on fanfiction, art and other websites to do so with as well.

What brings me here - and I really hope this doesn't sound cheesy, or intimidating, or too intense, or something like that - is that the roleplaying partnerships I've had have been the closest, most important personal relationships of any kind I've had, and I really want to find a person or group of people who value it in the same way I do to create characters and worlds with.

When it comes to genre, I like spec fic. Almost all of my roleplaying has been sci-fi (probably more like sci-fantasy, actually), but I'd be interested to do a straight-up fantasy roleplay too. I'm fine with doing original roleplaying, fandom roleplays (I'm really into Homestuck, Avatar: The Last Airbender/The Legend of Korra, and A Song of Ice and Fire/A Game of Thrones these days, but I know a ton of fandoms), crossovers/AUs, or fandom-based roleplays with original characters and storylines.

In terms of style of roleplaying, one-on-one chat roleplaying has remained my favorite form. I've done tabletops, and I'd join another one with the right group of people, but just making up a world or at least a group of characters between the two (or at very most three or four... I don't do well in large groups) of us is really my favorite way of doing things. I tend to write in script format, but I'd be good with fast-paced paragraph format that amounted to the same or a comparable thing. As you've probably gotten from all of this, I'm really informal. It's less about rules and form and having things all plotted out for me and more about feel (for lack of a better and more specific term) - If we can make a world and a story where both of us care immensely for the people in it and what happens to them, I don't care much if all the details in the system or the story aren't worked out, and sometimes actually prefer it that way. Finally, and I don't know how obvious this is made by the fact that I prefer one-on-one or small group roleplays, but I like having multiple, and even numerous, characters at once in the same roleplay.

As for non-roleplaying stuff I do, when I actually have motivation, I play piano, draw, make plush toys, read and make anime music videos. When I don't, I hang out on Tumblr and other favorite sites. I'm also pretty involved in disability rights advocacy, and do a fair amount of writing and other volunteer work for nonprofits working in the area of trying to stop coercive and abusive treatment of people with disabilities in institutions. I also travel a lot, and like going to strange cities and finding my way around using the public transportation system and my iPhone.

...Oh, and the questionnaire thing I based this off of mentioned cookies. Yeah, everyone who read all this gets cookies.
